Our Challenge

Stirling Lloyd is a leader in high performance coatings whose solutions deliver exceptional protection in the most demanding of environments whilst offering proven whole of life cost benefits.

In 2014, they took the decision to refresh their brand and launch a new company website, to reflect its aspirations as a contemporary, growing international business.

We performed a thorough brand audit to determine Stirling Lloyd's current position, and their aspirations. This informed the creative process, ensuring their new brand image represented these goals.

The Brand

The brand identity continued the existing brand colours of yellow and black, with the new logo consisting of both a wordmark and symbol. This is complimented by a confident, approachable and reassuring tone of voice – trust was an important emotion to convey in this project.

Developing the Concepts

The abstract S and L create a marque which can be used easily in a variety of locations, including their vans and product packaging as well as promotional literature and stationary. We also formed a brand pattern out of the marque, creating a design which further reinforces the idea of structure and strength.

Responsive, thoughtful interface design

We built Stirling Lloyd’s website on Umbraco, for a number of reasons. Not only is this CMS extremely secure and user friendly, but it also offers effortless social media integration and a search engine-friendly structure.

We ensured that Stirling Lloyd’s new website was completely responsive, retaining all the functionality on any device.

Aspects such as user-friendly navigation, clear calls to action and accessible contact details were particularly important.

Monochrome photography with yellow highlights keeps all Stirling Lloyd's imagery effortlessly on brand.

Worldwide Capabilities

As a company with international reach, the ability to translate the site was a vital one. Umbraco has over 15 languages built in as standard, all of which are fully editable from the single CMS.

The CMS itself can also be translated for international staff if required.

Offline Marketing

Alongside all our online work, we also designed Stirling Lloyd’s brochure, which is available both in print and as a download from their website. Our copywriters got involved here, ensuring that the brochure is thorough and informative, yet conversational – to feel as if the reader were speaking to a Stirling Lloyd team member.
