Marketing a ‘seven days a week’ stadium venue is a completely different ball game from promoting match-day activities, as many sports clubs have found out.
So, while fixture lists, player profiles, ticket information and match reports are featured comprehensively on the clubs’ official websites, the ‘functions venue’ side of the business is often more difficult to promote and more of a hassle for users to access.
To overcome the problem faced by many stadium operators Fat Media has developed eye-catching new ‘events venue’ websites for sports clubs – efficiently reaching a whole new audience.
It all started when we identified the need to create a fresh, new marketing vehicle for our local Football League club, Morecambe FC as it moved to a new home at the multi-million pound Globe Arena.
The superb stadium is the premier function venue in the district, hosting business conferences, wedding receptions, high school proms, family celebrations and company parties 365 days a year.
Yet marketing was being hampered by the tie-in the club has to its main football website, making the ‘events’ side of the business more difficult to promote and more of a hassle for users to access.
So Fat Media created a brand new, standalone brochure website at www.globearena.co.uk which allows the club to promote events and function room availability to a different, non sport-related market far more effectively.
The dedicated website soon caught the eye of marketing bosses at St Helens, one of the country’s top rugby league clubs, who also wanted to promote facilities at their brilliant new Langtree Park stadium.
The result was the launch in autumn 2013 of the excellent new Fat Media-created site www.langtreeparkstadium.com which allows the Saints’ commercial teams to showcase their superb facilities, events listings and special offers.
We’re now working with Saints on ongoing search engine optimisation and other digital marketing services.
