Our fantastic team of 'Fat Bikers' completed an impressive Manchester to Blackpool 60 mile bike ride on Sunday 13th July, raising over £1,000 for chosen charity Dementia UK.
The riders - Darren, Dom, Natalie, Beth and Jess had been training for the last couple of months and their hard work and energy certainly paid off as the ride was completed with no injuries, maybe just a little bit of sunburn!
The ride began at Sir Alex Ferguson Way, Old Trafford at 9.30am and ended some eight hours later, at 5.00pm on Blackpool's sea front after taking in the sights from a scenic ride.
The Fat Bikers would like to thank Lancaster Boys and Girls Club who kindly lent us their van for the day and our very own chauffeur, Paul who drove the team to the start line.
Darren Dedrie, the Fatties lead race organiser said:
"After an early start on Sunday morning, we all bundled ourselves into the van, that was kindly donated to us for the day by Lancaster Boys and Girls Club. We all saddled up and started our 60 mile ride from Old Trafford armed with Jelly babies, flapjacks, Haribo, Snickers. After a damp start the sun came out and stayed with us up until the windy finish on Blackpool front. The day went really well and we all had a great time and will have raised over £1000 for Dementia UK. Roll on our next challenge of 100 miles!!
