Fat Media are proud to have been involved in the development of brand new advice solution which launched this month; The CAN (Community Advice Network) Help project brings together 13 advice and support agencies throughout the Lancaster District working in partnership to improve advice services.

After our initial meeting with the CAN Help team about the many features the service offers we set about creating a bespoke website to provide the foundation for both advice seekers and partners.

The Fat Media design team created a brand new CAN Help logo incorporating sign language and a fresh teal blue highlight; which was then utilised across the website to create a recognisable and consistent brand. We focused on creating clarity across the site and the simple responsive design style lends itself perfectly to use across multiple devices.

The site offers a unique advice search feature, allowing visitors to view advice by key category or by searching alongside their postcode – the search results offer pages of advice and links to a full profile page of key partners within the community. Age UK, Help Direct and Lancaster City Council are just a selection of the many partners who have full access to the website to update their profiles.

Another impressive feature incorporated into the development are key sections for ‘local news’, ‘national news’ and ‘social policy’. The team at CAN Help wanted to ensure their visitors had access to the latest across the UK, keeping them connected at a national level as well as locally.

Accessibility across the site has been commended by partners, the simple look and feel with clear navigation routes and search functionality ensures that the sometimes complex task of researching advice is made quick and easy.
